Newsletter #1
Getting Started | Aug. 5, 2022
After a fun 6 weeks filled with family, friends, and one unexpected tequila shot after another, I’m finally getting newsletter #1 out.
Getting this website off the ground was my biggest goal for this year and while it was ultimately for me, I feel fortunate at how much of myself I get to share with anyone interested.
I didn’t expect to throw myself into designing each page so much, to become particular about the art that I felt communicated the spirit or emotion I wanted to convey, but once I got started, I couldn’t stop. It spurred me on. I wrote furiously, feverishly. It has made me feel more like myself than I ever have and in the face of (a dozen? several dozen?) crushing global crises, it has been a source of comfort and inspiration.
It’s kept up, too. This month, in addition to a new piece (really should’ve thought about holding one or two back from the initial batch..), I uploaded some attempts at a re-entrance into oratory/spoken word. I’ll be uploading more soon, but these came out the cleanest so far - one of which is the reading of an all-time favorite (by the guy in the photo).
At the bottom, I included some things I’ve been listening to and reading lately. Please send your recs.
Thanks for being here.
